Choosing The Right Swimsuit

Written by from on June 1, 2012

When going on holiday it is hugely important to make sure that you have the right kind of swimwear. Depending on where you are going, and the type of activities you’ll be doing, you’ll need to  have the appropriate apparel to make sure that you are always comfortable, secure and looking your best. The range of women’s swimwear has grown significantly in the last fifty years, so you can rest assured that there will be a suitable option out there for you – no matter what your shape or budget. Whether you are after something on a shoestring or you want to splash out on some luxury swimwear you can always be confident when hitting the beach this summer.

  • Pear Shaped

Women  who have a “pear figure” should go for styles that draw the eye towards the upper part of the body and away from troublesome areas. Over the shoulder swimsuits which give the shoulders a broader appearance are fantastic, but you should avoid going for a larger brief as this can actually accentuate the area around the tops of the thighs and the buttocks.

  • Petite

Although it sounds like stating the obvious, petite women should go for smaller swim suits – particularly bikins – which elongate and accentuate the figure making them appear taller. One of this season’s favourites – the cut out swim suit is also fantastic for the more petite figure.

  • Busty

For years, it was practically impossible for the larger lady to find swimwear that was both comfortable, supportive and flattering. Now, more than ever, designers are realising that they need to make swimwear that offers ample support resulting in far greater choice.  Plain tops with a patterned bottom is wonderfully flattering and halter necks will offer better support. There are also a wide variety of underwired swimsuits available on the market today.

When picking a swimming costume, it’s always advisable to take activities you might may doing into consideration – for example, if you are jetskiing or surfing, you will need something with additional support.
